2010, and just where did the last decade go?

Yes, I know the pedantic amongst you will be groaning, the decade doesn’t really end until 31st December 2010. But for the rest of us 2010 just feels more like the end of the decade and 2011 sits well as the start of the next one, even if it isn’t.

So welcome 2010 and of course welcome to my weekly blog that I hope will chart some of my more interesting adventures through Tokyo and life in general. Those of you who read my TASTE articles will know that I am an avid foodie who is ably assisted by my hubbie, Terry, in the pursuit of great dining experiences in Tokyo. Obviously it’s not an  arduous challenge as it is hard to find a bad meal in Tokyo. So I will be sharing with you some of our discoveries, new and old and some of our adventures in the world of food and wine.

But to start with, I will let you in on a little secret of ours, possibly our favorite restaurant in Tokyo, although I am very liberal with that term and have many favorite restaurants. Tornavento is however very close to my heart. The chef  and staff are affable and amenable. The Milanese style food: fantastic. The regional wines unusual. This is a place where we go for a quiet tete a tete together or for more rumbunctious evenings with friends. It has also been the scene of several tearful farewells, Tokyo being such an international city sadly means that good friends come and go. www.tornavento.jp

So what else does my week hold? Well I am racing to finish the final book in the Millennium trilogy, “The Girl who kicked a hornets nest” by Stieg Larssen. Why the hurry? Well not only is it almost impossibe to put down but also the Swedish television adaptation is due to start on AXN mystery channel soon, I can’t wait. Apart from that there is dinner at Les Halles with great friends, more about that after the fact,
